Dumb drivers during holiday

This morning during the holiday rush I was driving my Huracan on the highway. Traffic was a bit heavier than usual and because of the long break there were a lot of inexperienced and elderly drivers on the road. The fast lanes were jam packed with slow drivers for no apparent reason.

Out of nowhere a black minivan came speeding through the slow lanes weaving in and out without signaling like some teenager who had just watched a Need for Speed movie and thought it was real. I remember thinking that this was an accident waiting to happen.

Sure enough less than five minutes later a highway warning popped up saying there was an accident ahead. When I reached the spot the same black minivan had collided with a white one. The left rear side of the white van was smashed and its bumper was scattered all over the road.

Should I report this to the police or just leave it since the highway cameras probably caught everything? I am pretty sure I have dashcam footage too once I get home. Have you experienced anything similar in the past with your roads?

I stay away from the police as much as I can. I reported an abandoned car on my street and the cops had it towed. Months later I was subpoenaed to testify in court, I realized the crook would have my name and address and who knows if he'd vandalise my property or vehichles. I was lucky it was evening court, I didn't have to cancel clients and the guy didn't show up.

I learned I can call the city and they will tow a car without going to court.

Also the police here are not your friends, they lie, cheat and put false accusation on us.

This photo is from my HD action cam. I have a sharper one from my new dash cam, but I'm too lazy to pull it out. The black car was probably going twice the speed limit and tailgating, while the white car might have brake checked it despite blocking the passing lane by driving very slowly.

I agree it’s best to stay away from them and not hand over any of my footage. I don’t want to be called to court or let those crooks have my name and address.

This thread should just be called 'Dumb Drivers' lol. Doing that on a non-holiday is equally dumb.

Reminds of an experience I had a while back. I was sitting in stop and go traffic on the freeway. A car flew past me on the shoulder beween slow traffic and the side barrier. Sprayed my car with gravel as he flew past. A mile or two later I found him on the shoulder crumpled into the back of another car. Airbags deployed. Both cars totaled.

I had an extreme close call this evening. I was going through a residential area going about 50km/hr when all of a sudden in the opposite lane some dumba$$ who was behind a car decided to take a side street cutting me off, I slammed on the brakes the car rocked forward violently, it almost stalled and I'm not kidding I was sure I was going to t-bone his back end. There must of been only an inch to spare maybe less. If I was in my work van or Vette it would of done serious damage.

I was amazed I didn't hit the car. I wanted to pull over to give him hell when another foreign idiot decided to tailgate me. When I got out of the car the guy escaped.

What angers me is the 5K deductible if something ever happens.

How about car going the opposite direction of one way freeway? Dumb drivers are everywhere and the vague road signs aren't helping either.

It is quite confusing for us americans driving into Canada when all of a sudden we have to switch to the other side of the road. Metric roads are VERY different from Imperial.

Other side of the road? We are left hand drive like you guys. I've been in the states a few times and yeah switching to MPH is not easy, because we are unaccustomed and it's in fine print on an analog dash. What I like in some places the speed limit is higher than ours.

What worries me the most was getting a ticket, especially in NY because I was told when you get a ticket you have to show up in court, weeks or months later and that would mean doing a trip back there just for that. The other option is to never enter that particular state ever again if you don't show up in court.

Is 'left hand side' metric? Pretty sure I flipped sides when going to Niagara.

Yes, the ticket in another state thing sucks. Most states you can hire a traffic attorney to show up in your place.

Now I'm all confused left hand/metric. Maybe I didn't get the joke, maybe that's the point being confused....Confusius. :p

Just a dumb dad-joke. I do the same when a canadian (or any non-american) tell me how long something takes, I always say, 'Yeah, but that's metric time.'

NASA lost a Mars orbiter to the imperial versus metric mix up. Scientists confused, aliens confused, everyone confused, I am confused :)

I once bought a painting thinking the size was in inches but it was actually in feet. Now it is so huge I cannot even fit it up the stairs without cutting it to pieces.
