Summer came along I put the project on hold. The build is complete, I decided not to put the decals on the windows but they can be added anytime.
I racked my brain for months thinking how I could mimic the floor mats, I took white electrical tape, painted it then cut thin strips to make the borders. For the logo I took a picture of the logo in my car, reduced it on the computer and printed them out.

The windshield washer cap was missing in the kit so I had to make one(left side near the wipers)

I'm doing a custom base, it should be complete soon. Stay tuned.

Everything you see was painted, even the the tail lights, paint, or markers to stain the clear plastic red to duplicate the real thing.

You can see how huge this model is, over 7 kg (15.4 pounds)

1/1 :p

The custom base is nearly complete, all I have to do is screw the boards and the car in place and decide on the final plaque layout. Should I put the Lamborghini sticker (peel off backing) between the bull and Huracan aluminum plate or leave it out completely.

I cut the tabs off the plexiglass case so it could rest flush with the base.

Whoah, superb job! šŸ˜šŸ˜

I vote for no sticker. I think the sticker uses different font style that is not suitable for Lamborghini.

Thank you!

I think so too no sticker. There won't be any Lamborghini label but doesn't matter no one will see the model except me.

Imagine if the real Aventador was in good shape I'd have to buy another Pocher model and do it all over again!

I think the model qualifies as a diorama piece as well because of its details and the amount of work you put into it. For example, you could place the car in a garage scene with the engine bonnet and door open to show the interior work, maybe even with a devil mechanic figure doing an oil change. Just an idea :)

Don't tempt me! I haven't assembled a 1/64 Lambo dealership diorama I bought 2-3 years ago.

It would be cool though but at 1/8 scale this thing is massive. The only way to minimize would be to have a background picture in the case with only one or two figurines.

I had gotten ahead of myself a few weeks ago by replacing the Huracan in my diorama for the Aventador in hopes I would buy the real one but now I have to put it back in its box. Or maybe put it on my dash of the truck to set myself a new goal?

That's impressive! Now you have a new project to finish the unfinished project :)

Yes, I agree at 1/8 scale, it would be crazy to set a diorama. I forgot the model is at 1/8.

If you set a new goal, maybe go for a Revuelto? I saw a blue one without a wing last week. The driver and passenger waved at me and I waved back. Very friendly. Compared to the older models it looks surprisingly subtle from the rear, almost unmenacing, so I think a wing is a must on that car.

I am thinking of making a diorama next year, maybe a train scene with a working model train instead of a car. I made one about five years ago, dissembled it to save space, and have not touched it again since I got busy with violin.

Revueltos look really nice but unreachable in my lifetime unless I decided to scale up the biz massively with employees, a secretary, an accountant and tremendous amount of advertisement. Did you know the cheapest Revuelto is 800K CAD but most are 900K to over a million dollars.

An Aventador only makes sense if I can get one at a decent price. I also would have to set aside I don't know maybe 30K to paint it orange. People here are still trying to sell these 12 year old cars cars over msrp!

Working model trains take a lot of space, it would be a long project but rewarding.

You could make a train diorama that circles your garage?

Oh my! You have such a cute cat. Is it a male or a female?

I have a Scottish Fold female with dark fur and she follows me everywhere like a shadow.

About the Aventador, I think the owners keep it high because the Revuelto isn't dominating yet. A dealer invited me for a test drive but I could not bring myself to go. My mind is more set on saving for something else, maybe even a Strad violin one day. I do not know if I can ever buy one in my lifetime, but never say never.

I have also been thinking of building a train diorama that runs around my garage, but I feel standard rails might not be reliable over long distances. Dust and temperature changes could damage sections and I would not know where the problem is. It happened once on my old setup. So I am thinking of something smaller for now, maybe a compact recessed cabinet so the dust can't break things.

Cats are so cool, we need to start a pet thread. My cat is a female, during summer she spends the entire day in a catio in the back yard, it has cat walks, a tree to climb, a hammock, a large tube perched up above the catwalks. I bring her in at night. Right now since it's really cold out she spends the day inside but she goes outside in the evening. I built her a heated cat house.

I can't complain about not having an Aventador. The Huracan is paid and it's a better car, parts can be crossed referenced with the R8 and used parts are more abundant. I can splurge a little bit if I want to change wheels.

About the strad, I'm not knowledgeable, can you get a less expensive one?

Original Strad is like around 5 to 25 millions or more. The cheapest one sold last year around 5 million by a Japanese. It still commands a lot of money despite it produces strange sound and mostly not in great condition.

There is another maker like JB guadagnini, which is around 1.2 million. I tried a couple of these this summer. Maybe I can rob a bank and buy this one :)

The boards are screwed in. All I need to do is decide on the corner display.

I could put this instead of the chrome bull. Or I also have the bull in gold.

Wow that's some serious money! Maybe just like an Aventador, even though it's not as good as a Huracan you buy it because of the aura and prestige?

Since the plate looks metal & shiny, maybe anything above it should be shiny too to keep the uniformity. Like gold or silver  Just personal preference. If you like the badge, you should go for it!
