Owning a Lambo does it make your life better? Also what are the downsides of owning one?

It definitely improves my driving experience and makes it more enjoyable. It also feels safer since most cars open their lanes for me instead of cutting me off maybe thinking I am part of some syndicate.

On the other hand I just had a guy in a beat up box car get angry and cut me off after I legally passed him in highway exit with my luxury minivan. It was two lanes and he was not obstructed or bothered by me at all. Some Japanese have very strange ego. Maybe a leftist. They drive very slow blocking everything and wanted everyone to stay behind them.

So at the stoplight the lane on his left was open so I pulled up right next to him and gave him a glare. I was ready if he wanted to play road rage so I can sue for lots of money. He looked away and chickened out

So yeah, the Lambo filters 99% of the morons on the road. The 1% showed up usually during holidays only so I can avoid them.

The downside of owning a Lambo? Nothing serious other than maintenance fees. Money got printed everyday and I don't lose my time procrastinating. If I die, the gov takes half of my assets as inheritance tax. Life is too short!

I think there are pros and cons, like everything in life. It really depends on WHY you bought it. If you bought it as the culmination of a goal, or hard work, or to make a dream come true, then I think the pros will outweigh the cons. If you bought it to be seen, or to impress others, then I doubt it will have much of a positive effect.

A video I was watching made me think back, when I was an employee I would see a few coworkers ecstatic to get a watch for being for being in the union for 25 years, they would revel and show a glimpse of that achievement watch to others. I was brainwashed too thinking it would be my turn eventually to get that trophy, just enduring a few more years of hardship all the while being treated like crap by employers being dirt poor.

When I went on my own, after a lot of struggles then persisting through more BS, finally achieving a goal of owning Lambo I remembered about all the fuss this trophy watch. I did a little research the freaking watch was worth about $125 brand new. I see them resold for less $50-80 when these guys retire or pass away.

Yes a Lambo made my life better it made me realize a lot of things in life being freed from those mental chains. It made me realize those men were just as brainwashed as I was. That 25 year watch was just a trinket, I find it funny now, I don't envy that watch and what it represents.

Instead I took the bull by the horns and ride it.

That feels very much like a corporate carrot on a stick. If you have photos of the cheap carrot, I would love to see it. Mostly wondering which watch is powerful enough to brainwash the poor souls.

I don't think the watch was what made them stay 25 years. I think it was just a gift/trophy/recognition that the company chose to celebrate them with. They didn't have to do anything.
As an employer that watches what other companies do, it seems that no matter what a company does for it's employees someone is going to piss and moan about it. I have a guy coming up on 10 years and I was going to get him a watch, but I may just reach out and see what he wants. To me, it's a milestone worth celebration/recognition, but I also know that he may no care.

The reason I started my own business is because the Union focked me over. There was a period when there was no work for a long time, so I transferred to another Union branch, same Union just a different location. I was number one on the waiting list for a year, I found out that everybody was working except me. It was all rigged while I still had to pay monthly dues, I had being paying dues for over 22 years! My bank account was literally empty...

I then started assembling Ikea furniture, bbqs and gazebos to afford groceries. After months of researching how I was going to change my fate I got a idea. I spent all the money I had left including my spare change for classes, exams and business licences. With licences in hand I had $50 in my pocket for materials. Make it happen or die. When the job was complete I returned to the store to get a $20 refund for the unused materials. Rinse and repeat.

Fast forward a few years. After a year of owning the lambo I went in front of the office windows and revved and revved again, I gave them hell, enough so it probably rattled the managers inside. In a way I'm grateful they were such a-holes, it gave me a push to change my destiny. To hell with their watch!

Here too they are somewhat corrupt. Where I'm at everyone in whatever trades is obligated by law to be in a union of their choice. It has positives things and also negatives. I'm so relieved I'm not in that circus act anymore.

Wow, that is quite the story, good for you. I'm amazed you were able to amass the wealth to purchase your Lambo so quickly after starting your own business from very little. Very impressive indeed, I love to hear success stories like this where people take control over their own fate. If you look at it positively, the contract does the dirty work for you. It filters out bad customers, so future you suffers less.

They will never know it was me. To them it was a strange occurrence. Otherwise I fly under the radar as much as I can. I ignored the invitation of chamber of commerce and I avoid contractor events.

This is the longest winter that I can remember, 2 weeks ago it climbed to 13C so in a T-shirt I washed the C7 outside then back into the garage, the next day it was -16C, We had another snow storm 5 days ago (see below). A couple days later with just enough pavement I saw 2 motorcycles drive past, they couldn't wait any longer. There's still melting snow and the dust clouds have started amidst the artillery of potholes ready to destroy cars.

It's supposed to rain tomorrow so that should help. At least another 2-3 weeks before I go pick the H for surgery. Looks like I won't be taking a real ride until late April or early May.

How about you are you still down in the tropics?

I'm too busy with so many things now. I've been spending every weekend since August fixing the old garage that was extended half assed. That included gutting walls, digging and forming concrete foundation & floor all by hand and vinyl siding on 2 sides etc. This winter I repaired the C7 front splitter, put some wheel spacers to make the wheels flush. Now I'm updating the bedroom, I replaced the floor last weekend and now painting the room.

I wish I had that kind of talent. Contractors here charge an arm and a leg. Even simple work like adding interior walls can easily run around $60K for a small room. All I need right now is a wall on the north side on my garden, and the quote I got last year was just unbelievable. Did you have anyone to help you or did you do the work all by yourself?

What do you mean by "adding interior walls"? They build a new wall when it didn't exist or just new paint?
A wall for your garden you mean a fence? Over here fences are extremely expensive, what happens is they overcharge because most people do not realise it.

I do all the work myself, it's time consuming but I save a lot of money and it's exactly done the way I want.

I've said it before you might wish you had the talent, I wish I could make more money like you! However would I trade my know how vs money, hmm I'm not sure. Then again I wish I could have more free time, a big garage, a new house and an Aventador...
